As a student who wants to pursue MBA, you might be weighing the pros and cons of every university you come across. Most top B schools have a prerequisite for work experience. Of course schools now accept students without GMAT or Work experience but not all top schools. You might be thinking that you will waste 2-3 years by working when you could be studying and getting closer to your dream, not really.
So why do you need work experience? MBA as we know is not hard science, there is no right or wrong. They are all situation that need decision making, sometimes from previous experience. During classes which are mostly taught using case studies, your own experience can teach you more than theoretical knowledge. It has been observed that those graduates who had work experience performed better than those who had no work experience.
Well like I mentioned even if you are a fresher straight out of college you still have a chance of going to top B schools, that is if you have an excellent leadership potential. It's always safe to gain some experience though.
